I am a girl (more like a lady now) and I am at an age when all that everybody around me is worried about is when will I 'settle' down.

Its crazy, you know? All of my friends are all busy getting married these days. Kids younger than me by years are all busy too with the same work. And then, I have my sister at home who's due in September. So the routine now when we meet friends:

Aunty: Hiiii.. how are you ma? How is your health now? Morning sickness and all is still there ah?
Sister: yes aunty - a little weak. Nausea and all.. its tiring.
Aunty: Yes yes... it will be like this for sometime. You must do this, then do that and also don't forget to do that thing also, ok na?
(turning to me) - So Sindhu, You are next... we are all waiting for you to follow the steps now, you know? Hihihi...

And if it was an elderly lady, you can replace the last dialogue with - So Sindhu, you are next.. if we can see you also like this as soon as possible (cough), we'll be happy when we have to pass on, you know (cough, cough)...

And there I am, with a stoopid grin on my face, but cringing inside! Sigh :-|

Its so difficult actually, when people keep asking you such questions. I mean - I know they mean well and all that, but then, things will happen when they have to, right? It's not like I control everything. And add to it, its not at all an easy decision! Think about it - you are going to be saying yes to someone you are going to spend ALLLLLLL of your future with!! And there's no way ever to get out of the effects that the decision will have on you, your life and your immediate family - whether happy or otherwise. Marriage is such a big gamble, no?

It doesn't make things any easier for me considering am basically confused about this whole thing and when somebody asks me what I want - I go--.Umm... its like.. err.. It should be.. uh.. I don't know..! And my mom, with a tired face, says.. Sigh! I know you don't know what you want! And you aren't ready to listen to us give you any ideas, either.

But throughout all this drama, I have to thank God for being my constant companion in the form of my parents & sister. Most of my in-a-similar-situation friends whine about how their people are pressurising them too much to get married to a business-man guy from Dubai or an SWE from USA. But my dad & mom say - Sin, we know its not an easy decision, but we are around to do this together. And my sister's forever talking about how different things will be before & after marriage and what to try to understand from the initial stages itself, rather than just looking at a person superficially & being impressed by it.

I have learnt that the girly dreams I had 6 years back belong to Utopia and practicality is the way to go in this world. All I can do is hope for the best and hope things work out the best way.

You guys have been watching the news? These Jai Telangana people need to go jump in the Hussain Sagar lake and commit suicide!

They have desecrated all those beautiful statues on the Tank Bund road - Krishnadevaraya, Telugu Talli and many many more of people who have been real gems from Andhra Pradesh. I was looking at the news channels showing video footage of those ruffians hitting those statues with big sticks and damaging them. I felt a deep pain looking at the way they were acting!

MORONS!!!! x-(

It took me more than 2 hours to get home today - 45 mins is the max usually. All roads had been blocked and we took a thousand detours! All these people should seriously be shot at sight! So should those MNS people be. Why are they all so bent upon bringing further divisions in this country, when there are already too many to handle?

Go to hell, Congress! You guys cannot manage the country! I hate you!

I decided to write here!! Heii people :D

Just a reminder - am still alive indeed! And for those who left comments for me on the previous post - Sneha, Hobo, Anand and for the ones who have been checking with me through other media too - Swat, Vrij, KP and all... yes, yes.. I know I've ignored this place for a way too long time now... :)

I'm trying to pick up the pieces together again - and am trying to claim my life back from my office now! :D

And for you Swat - yes... the post about my boss is pending as of now. I'm writing it up and will post it soon and also mention that its dedicated to you too :D :D :D And for the others who are obsessed about my boss - keep waiting. I'm writing up something that's food for your thought and your mind and tongue too :D :D :D

Cheers! So here's to .... the third or the fourth innings here...? I really hope I am able to pay more attention to this place and not ignore it so much! Lets see how it goes! :)

I knew I missed blogging here for various reasons

It gave me a chance to keep my mind off the routine things and try thinking of better things to write here
It actually made me concentrate on all the nicer things happening in my life that I could write down here, rather than just sit & brood about something that upset me.
And obviously, reading comments that people have about what you write here
And when comments are from fellow bloggers-turned-very good friends, you are actually looking forward to reading them and replying back to them
In spite of me having been the target of a lot of jokes and teasing, I must confess that you guys made it so much fun and comical, there was never a day when I actually felt like - ENOUGH! I must admit that it has been one of the best reasons that got me attached to this place! :)

These are obviously just a few reasons on why I love my blog place. But now that I have written two back-to-back posts here and have been doing some meddling with my template, I realize that I love this place more than I thought and it feels so good to be back here. Some feeling - but its nice to be able to write down all that's going on your mind and having people say something about it.

And for all those people that I have known outside of the blog personally, I know in the last few months, I haven't really been able to keep in touch! E-mails, calls, sms-es - everything went down from my end. Am sorry about having gone away a little far, but seriously - it was not meant to be that way! :)

And for all those that always comment here whenever I write, thanks so much!! I know I haven't been around on your posts much either, but again - was not meant to be that way! Sorry about that! :)

And for everyone that has come here & become my friend - Thanks! I sure love this place and you are all the ONLY reasons for it! :)

I am not sure if most of what I wanted to say has come out the right way or not, but please adjust madi! I was just in the mood to say thanks to all you guys and this is what has come out! As long as you can understand what I am trying to say - all's fine! :D

The Revamp

I was looking at my blog this morning and thought - my online home desperately needs a change in the colors on its wall and some new pictures to hang on it.

The old one was nice, but I thought it was probably becoming a little to dull & drab with the shades of black & grey all over it. The only reason I kind of loved it was the header picture of that street, but then, that was also kind of contributing to the dull look.

Its hard work when you have to change templates, because you have to sit and add all your links again of all your fave things and that kind of had been stopping me from changing my template too often. But then, became too much for me too!!

So decided to do some researching for some good templates, tested them and tried mix & match with pictures, and finally decided this was the best.

Looks pretty refreshing, ain't it?

Do you happen to think I can do some thing more to this page or does this look fine just the way it is?

BTW - one question. I wanted to add that 'Read More' link option on my posts - but not able to understand how to do it actually. Any ideas please?

Yes yes, I am still alive. Like I was in the last post! ;) And yes, I am still busy too with work!

I am not sure if I already cribbed about this particular point before - and if I did, its ok. Please listen to this crib again (Trying to create that effect, you see!) Ok now - the crib is - At my old work place, including travel time between home and office, it used to take me just 10 hours. Or prolly 10.5 hours. Flat. Thats all. And in that, go out for dinner, go out for ice cream, go out to draw money - all time pass things I used to do.

And scene cut to the present:

--> Office timings (on paper): 6 AM to 3 PM

--> Travel time from and to office: 2.5 hours

--> Time spent in office: minimum 11 to 13 hours

--> Morning cab pick up time: 4:30 to 4:45 AM (which means I need to get up at least by 4 to get ready!]

Naa paavam illa? (Translated for non-Tamils - Sad state of affairs for me, na?)

Some new process is coming up and its coming up in the region being handled by me. So loads of work for me, considering the Pilot phase starts this coming Monday. Its all good that am involved in all new things, but sometimes, I feel like my energy is being sapped out. I am all happy as long as I am in the office. I can go on from 6 in the morning till 9 in the night without any problem. But the moment I sit in the cab, I feel like I am completely being overtaken by tiredness! And I just sink into my seat totally :D

Edho onnu. Ellame nalladha pona podhum. I will be happy and you guys also will be happy because you won't have to come here to listen to my cribs! :D

In the mood for some funny news? :D This is also office related only but still! :D

There is this female colleague of mine that's a mental case. She is some psycho only that has fallen on Earth from some unknown planet/galaxy/whatever. And madam has royally filed a sexual harassment case on my boss! :D I am not going to comment on how innocent my boss may or may not be, but this girl has full level been spreading stories about him! And the case is now under investigation by the Ombudsperson.

Its all funny to see the tussle between by dumb fellow boss and her. The stupid situation here you ask? I am being called to answer questions during the investigation, considering I am the lady who's been working with her in the mornings and its just me that has actually seen her in close quarters! x-( Its highly frustrating to be a part of this investigation. But its OK - its kind of coming to a close and she will prolly be shown the door - but lets see.

Loose candidates all! I am happy that she has now been moved back into the North America shift and I have now an awesome member in the morning to work with me! :D Freedom from that psycho finally!

There was a time in 2006-2007 when there were a lot of people who suddenly started showing interest in me. And then there had been a lull on that front in the last one year. And suddenly - there is activity happening again and this time, interestingly, its people who have entry into astrology and I have been getting pretty interesting predictions about what & how things are going to be for me in the coming days/months/years and no consultation fees either! ;) My friend has been teasing me about it - he is like, how is it that you girls get all such consulting free at cost and if its for guys like us, people don't even bother to tell us what will happen tomorrow! :D :D :D

Yep! I went to Madras on the Sept 26 weekend to [1] meet my sister [2] see the rebelz show [3] to take a dip in the beach (been a long time since I did that, ya)

What an awesome long weekend it turned out to be! Had fun with my sister, had fun at the rebelz play and had fun at the beach too. The play was really funny and I loved it. Ranga was obviously the star of the play - the baker dad of two girls that got kidnapped as kids! But sad that you had to play the dad for two good looking girls! :D Vino was the scar-faced mean pirate who had kidnapped one of Ranga's daughters. It was a fun evening! :)

I have had this long time dream of going to the beach on a day when its raining real hard and it finally came true! After a day of roaming, me, a friend, sister & BIL come home and just as we are entering the home, it started raining very badly. And then, we have this sudden crazy idea of going to the beach in the rain. And in 5 mins, we changed into casual clothes and we set off on bikes in the rain. Gosh! It was COLD rain & we were shivering badly. And we finally reached the beach like that. The beach water was a pleasantly warm and against the cold rain, it was an awesome feeling sitting in the beach :) And it was completely dark and the lightning across the sky looked like giant tube lights reaching out to touch the beach water across the horizon. I am not exaggerating when I am trying to explain this - but it was a seriously beautiful time! You should experience it to understand it - the power of water, the power of the lightning, the power or rain - all together, the power & beauty of nature!

What an evening, indeed!

And hey - This is an another awesome part. After the Madras trip, I was in Blore the following trip - and happens that Ranga was also in Blore the same day. Not that we could meet up then, but on a sudden plan, I and Swat decided to meet up at Coffee Day. And what fun it was! All we did was talk, talk & do more talking! No awkwardness of meeting for the first time or anything of that sort.

(@ Swat - should I change the sentence above to All 'I' did was talk, rather than, 'we'? :D I remember me to have done all the bak-bak)

She was total fun to be talking to - I talked about all stupid stuff that was currently going on in my life, in my office, in everything in general and for an hour or so, we kept talking, before finally deciding to say bye and leave! :D

Yeh lady - You are fun! And totally at that!

OK... So yes, I have been alive.

Alive &...... Kicking? Naah! I have been whining too much :D

Well, that's what anyone would do, if they had wot work for 15 hours in a day at the minimum, you see!

There was a time [Read: When I was working in my old company, with my good old boss ;)] when including my travel time to & fro from office took me only 10 hours. And in spite of working in the nights, I had awesome fun and life was nothing but bliss! And now is a time, when I spend a minimum of 2.5 hours in travel and at least 11 hours at work! The days I am able to get off at the 9Th hour sharp are - days I can count on my fingers!

Imagine having to get up at 4 in the morning and arriving at office by 5:15 or 5:30 in the morning. You can imagine a sleepy eyed face of a girl? Yes - that girl is me! :D :D :D

And when the log out happens to be 5 in the evening and the time to reach home through all the traffic is around 7 PM, can you imagine the half-dead look? Oh yea... that belongs to me too :D :D :D

And I have been feeling so much pity for myself for all the hard work I am doing - whoever is ready to listen to my whining about my 'terrible' timings, I have been bombarding them with my rants. And now, the readers here are becoming victims too ;) :D :D :D

Funny part is - as long as I am in the office, its all fine. The bad parts are when I am coming to office and going from office. The minute I sit in the cab after the log out, there is a wave of tiredness that comes up and I am like.... Phewwwww!!

But somehow, I miss my night timings! I was in the 6 PM to 3 AM timings for almost 4 years and there was never a day that I cursed that timing! It seemed like I had all the time in the world then and I loved it! And even in the new company where I had the same timings, the floor used to be alive at nights! And now, I am working 6 AM to 3 PM - a complete 12 hour opposite shift and life's boring! There's just me and another bore-of-a-girl with me and I miss my team terribly! All the fun people of the team work in the nights and there is no one to talk to in the mornings! If there's some help I need, one of them do come in the mornings once in a while for sometime, but still.... not the same as having a wonderful team beside you all the time, Na?!

And otherwise too, there is nothing that I have to complain much about! Because there is nothing else happening apart from work :D. Went on a shopping spree in the last 2 days after a long time and feeling good about myself :D. And if that is not enough, I dragged a friend along too and he was like.... I don't like shopping!!! Leave me alone! :)))

And yea - I saw Public Enemies! Not a bad movie, but I liked Johnny Depp! He sure looks intense, eh?!

So that's all the brief updates from me! How long has it been since I wrote? Prolly 2.5 months? Yeah.. May 26 was when I last wrote here. Lets see when will the next post come up here!

And yea.. for all you guys -I missed you all! And thanks for checking on me! Sure feels good to be missed, you know! :)

Hyderabad WON!! It thrashed the opponents & how!!! The saddest part was.. we had no power that day and we had to rely on the radio and updates from friends who had power, for the score & wickets! When Gilchrist went down in the second ball itself... I kind of lost hopes.. and when RCB started batting pretty well... I was alsmot sure that we may not make it... but fortunes turned!! :)

The friend who was giving me updates was a Bangalorean and he was sure that they would win and we were almost ready to fight about it.... :D And later on... he very magnanimously tells me that he made RCB to give up their win so that DC can win and he can see me happy! I was like.. "YEA RITE! Just accept that you guys lost it!!!" :P And when we won... I made it a point to call him and scream in the phone :)))

Buhahahahahha!! :D

Ahhhhhh! What a night! :D The funniest part - the power came on just when the last ball got thrown :-|

I have found great friends at work! :) And I am on calls and sms-es like never before and even after hours of talking, we always have something more to talk about! My mom's ofcourse going mad seeing me on phone for so long ;))

Trust in God is what I should probably do and just enjoy whats being offered :)

I am alive. Pretty much

And I decided I should write something here before the date hits a month since I wrote here..... so if I don't write here before twelve tonight... I would lose the bet with myself.. so here it is :D

Life's going great... and I am in love with it totally! Everything is beautiful and everyone is an angel. There are some messengers of Satan as well here & there ;) But who cares... as long as I feel like the halo is right above my head o:-)

And I have actually fallen in love with my office! And no.. its not my boss who is the reason for it... in case you guys start thinking on those lines ;) :P ! Its just that work is great and I love my team! Weekends are actually boring now... and I actually start my weekends looking forward to Mondays now! :D

And I have made some pretty good friends too at work.... and am very happy about it! :) People do keep warning me about how people at work can never be friends.... and I can only hope that it doesn't hold true in my case! :)

There's a lot more that I would probably like to write here.... but will pen it down later on... :) Let this just be my 'welcome back home' post! :D

And now for the great news!

DAD HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED BACK TO HYDERABAD!!!

After 3 long years!

I am counting it... and 2009 has been so good to me! I just hope I find reasons everyday to keep hugging my life everyday :)

I am happy!! Yess!!! Who is bothered about the 22km journey to office everday... as long as the family is around you to open the door for you at anytime of the day! :)

I am loving it! Totally!!

Now that the marriage is just a week away, things are getting more & more hectic at home! Its become so bad, we are actually calling up a lot of friends and inviting for the marriage - there is no time to go to each one's home & invite personally!

And God's grace - people have been understanding too! :) They are actually like - you don't even have to call us - its our own family's marriage and we will surely be there :D

And add to this, dad's still not come home from Bangalore! He's stuck with some auditing happening in his branch and he is not able to move now! Can you believe it?! Less than a week before the marriage and he says he is not sure when he will be able to get out x-( All of us are mighty angry with him now! :D

I went for my first facial on Saturday ;) And after all the time and money I spent in the salon and the new haircut and all, I am feeling fabulous! :D I looked into the mirror and I thought "Wah - I don't look so bad!!" ;) I have not stopped smiling into the mirror :D Now lets just hope I look as good on the marriage day! Because if I can't look good on that day - then all the photos will go for a toss and that means a waste of my money too!!! :(

Just a week more... and am getting really excited now!! :)

And since the first two who commented here got confused - to clear things out - I am talking about my sister's marriage here :D I am still a single, free-bird :))

You know - God sure is there! All around you!

And He sends all His wishes and help through people in the most unexpected of ways. And its all those small, fine things in life - like getting a lift unexpectedly, like having the right kind of people beside you in a situation, like having a friend with you just when you run out of that extra Rs.50/- you needed suddenly... its times like these that you feel really thankful to God for His fairies!

I may not be thinking of you constantly, Oh Friend! But please accept this as a humble thanks to You for all that You do for me and humble prayer that You always stay by my side like always! :)

Because half the team was in US for the last 2 weeks, we were asked to work from 9PM to 6AM to match their timings and trainings! And its driven me crazy totally!

I sleep for no less than 8 hours everyday, but with these timings.... even that seems less. Making that one hour journey and going to office.... you enter the office already feeling sleepy. I feel like a lazy bum who does nothing but sleep!

And I am soooo happy that this is finally coming to an end! I get back to my older shift of 6PM to 3AM, which is so much more comfortable!!

And yeh, Dad's got a promotion now! :) He's a Scale V officer now in Andhra Bank and that means he will be an AGM, I guess. 2009 has been going great and I can only hope it remains the same! He's expecting a transfer. SO if he comes back to Hyderabad, then every body's happy since we can all stay together. But if its anywhere outside Hyderabad, with sister also moving to Madras after marriage, the rest of the family may have to join him at his new place and I may have to move nearer to my work place.

I am looking forward to that in a way - to see how different life is when you have to be on your own! And then, I will not have to travel 22x2 kms everyday between work and home. But I am also scared since I will be losing all that home atmosphere! Lets see how it turns out!

We got some training schedule for the OJT guys from one of my seniors. It had some schedule put up even for April 10 - which is today.

But we thought - it was probably a mistake - since April 10 being a Good Friday - US should probably not be working. And then, the schedule had been a copy-paste of what the three days prior to it had - which gave us more reason to think it was scheduled without checking for Good Friday on calender.

And the team in India made our own plans of enjoying our Friday off! A colleague & myself were planning to catch a movie too!

And yesterday - on a late night call - my boss tells us that Friday is a working day - since the client is working! And he wondered how we could think Friday was on off inspite of getting that schedule!

Can you imagine what it feels like to have your hopes, plans & fun dashed a day before things were going to happen?! If yes - thats what my situation is like, right now! How can we be held responsible for taking it granted that Good Friday being an international holiday - US would have it too? :(

Mummeeeeeee :'(( I am working on a day that should have been the start of my long weekend! :(

There is a saying in Telugu - not sure if its there in Tamil too.

"Rameshwaram ki vellina, Saneshwarudu vadhala ledu" Translated - it means... even if I went all the way to Rameshwaram, some Saniyan[Shani, Sani] like guy is still not leaving me or something like that! :D

Similarly - I change a job - its been two months - I have a completely new set of colleagues - one of whom seems to be a great great guy ;) [who also happens to be ultra brilliant :D]!! And I am still having to field questions about my non-existent affair with my previous boss and if I am intending to continue that in the new office!!!!

Heights - all you jobless people :D And if that was not enough - I get blackmailed too! :D

Please read this post - whoever missed it! He is the culprit behind all the baseless stories about my ex-boss. :P

The sweet, innocent, angelic girl that I am - you guys are all sinning to be talking about me like this! :D

The meet!

This is coming quite a time after it happened - so sorry people - but my net was disconnected! Thats why the delay! :)

Had been to Madras over the last weekend for a temple visit program. Was a short, packed one - but made it a point to meet a couple of bloggers there - since we had been discussing that for like a LONG time now! I was already being made fun of that I just keep saying I intend to come soon but never really make it! :D

So it happened. I was in Madras last Saturday morning and couple of calls later - Naut, Ranga, Prad & me decided to meet up. We went to this nice tea place called Cup & Saucer [or was it Cups & Saucers?] in Adyar. The place selection was courtesy Naut - who had to pick me up from a station and then take me there. And a few minutes later - came Prad & Ranga.

Funniest thing was - atleast for me - it did not feel like I was meeting people for the first time! There was no formality or anybody trying to be very polite and all. I thought it was more like a group of friends meeting up after a long time - probably because we all have been speaking so much on chat & on calls, over the last 3 years :). No need for introductions or anything - just say a hello - how are you and then get talking on things that friends do, when they meet up!

I totally loved it - people! Thanks to you three :)

Ranga initially seemed a little silent - but was quick to get back in form when the topic suddenly diverted to traveling the distance to office and how one colleague affected it all :))). The colorful language just flowed out :D :D.

I wish I could have met Aarti and Bharu - but Aarti was flying to Mumbai just that morning and Bharu couldn't make it too. Next time, I should probably have a plan in advance and decide about meeting people early on - so the plans can be made! And yea - the next time - Bharu & Aarti - we will surely meet - ok?

And after the eating program was over - Ranga & Prad left. I found an Odyssey store right next to the place we went and I dragged Naut along to it.

And then - Naut, who was supposed to originally leave me at Pallavaram [I was staying in Pammal], went on to drop me in Pammal! It was no near place and I realized that only on my way back :D :D :D. Naut - sorry still about having made you drive all that way - but huge thanks too :)

The new job is taking away time from me. Not that I spend hours working - since work hasn't started as yet. But there is not access for external sites and that ends all the story there.

We had a two day training kind of a thing for new recruits. Two days - 8 hours each day. It was fun - the speakers were very good and made the whole thing fun & lively. And last session on Friday ended at 6 PM. Me & my new colleague were happy to be able to get home soon and once out of the audi - we checked our cell phones. And lo! Both of us had an sms from our manager that there was a meeting from 6:30 PM 'onwards' and we must report immediately! Both of us actually slumped immediately :))) We knew work will start soon -but we were not ready for it to start on a Friday evening after 6:30 PM - that too after a training session, of all things!

But thanks to God - it was not a meeting in literal terms. More of an intro session with the top guy in the process that we would be working with. It was very low-key and friendly. But those guys kept saying things that are scaring me! Things like - 'you guys are the first on team, so you are the founders', 'the first two months will give you sleepless nights, we assure you', 'what you guys will do will become the guiding steps for all those who will be working in this process in the future', 'what happens and what does not with the client - depends very heavily on you' etc! Now its good to say - do well. But when people keep building up expectations and building up the pressure on you - its a little maddening, isn't it?!

Or.... am I over-reacting? :D :D

My old company was pretty much a closed environment. I had a pampered life there! Maybe I am still expecting that things will be similar - which, obviously is my fault! Maybe I should just say - Hey- here I come and just vroom forward! :D God should help me drive through!

But I am sure - work will be pretty much something like this :D Click on it for the larger picture.

On another note - like a couple of you people have already read it, someone has something really interesting to talk about me :D Now if this really turns true - I should prolly dedicate a complete post to him :)) And yea - a treat too ;)

My sister's fiance sent this very beautiful bouquet of roses for her - to reach her at around 11 in the night now!

Its at times like this that I wish there was someone I could expect such gifts from, too ;)

And from my sister's end, she has a biiiig card & a table ordered at some place here for dinner together for them tomoro night. And sweeter than that - he's in Madras right now and his bike is with us - dusty and dirty. Lady sat and cleaned the whole bike for him, so it looks shiny & clean tomoro when he comes in the morning.

Its at times like this that I wish there was someone I could do all this for, too ;)

Happy Valentines Day to all you people! :) For all those who have someone to spend the day with - here's wishing that you always stay the same happy way together and always in love. I never imagined that I would be in a stage where I would actually be taking so much time to reply to messages posted here! Right from the time I was blogging on o3, it has been a craze that after a new post is put up, I keep refreshing to see if there are any new comments posted and reply to them immediately!

And look at my situation right now!

I joined my new job this Monday. In my particular sourcing team, I am the one first one to have joined and we will be servicing Symantec as our client. The other teams of finance, IT and all are on-board. Considering its a new client and a very big one at that, the last 2 days - I have seen my training manager on conf. calls continuously for around 5 to 6 hours! She said they start work at around 3 in the noon and continue till 6 in the morning!!

Gulp!

In my old office, we never worked over time. We used to be at work 15 minutes before the actual time and 15 minutes after the close time, we used to be boarding the cab. And the last one hour - I never worked, since I didn't have the 'mood' to work :D Life was that simple in my old office. It was the most uncomplicated of times, I am sure!

But things are obviously going to be different here. You know what they say - 'Band Bajega!'. That's whats going to happen to me now. The first one - one and half months is going to be real crazy for sure. And it scares me a little!

Gulp again!

I found myself wondering if staying back at my old office would have been a better idea after all - it was such a sweet, protected life. But then, I immediately though of all the times when I felt enough was enough - which is why, I started looking for a new job in the first place! Crazy me!

Whatever - I am sure its all going to turn great. As a child, I used to look at the ads showing ladies handling teams, dressed smartly, working real hard and used to feel inspired by them. Maybe I will do all that now :))

Here's to more good & better things to happen in 2009 for me - and for all of you!

Went on a trip on Jan 24 and came back on Feb 3!

It was a lot of fun, but very very hectic & strenuous. And the weather is crazy! Can you believe scorching mornings during Jan end, with temps touching 40C? That's what we were in! Horrible mornings!

Everyone was so very tired - all we wanted to do was come back home & sleep - but people had offices to go to, immediately after going home, you see! But not me :D

Different issue though.. that I had to go to office to complete some formalities :D It was nice meeting up with my people... warm reception I had! :D

And from yday, down with fever! All the strain & heat is showing the effect on me now! I should join my new office on Feb 9 and here I am, completely drained! But I still have 3 more days to go - so should be OK.

So for all those wanting to curse me on not replying earlier - please adjust for this time!

I should hopefully be more regular on commenting & posting & replying from here :)

Done!!!

I am done with my old office now. Yesterday was my last day at office...

It was a strange feeling.. my first job.. and my first set of colleagues. I was not sure whether or not I was sad. I have been my craziest self sometimes at this place. Always talking, laughing, arguing, .......

I was just looking around my place.. and I was feeling very empty in a different way. Not sure how I can actually explain it.

Keeping in touch will not be a problem.. there are so many ways these days and all of my friends here have orkut profiles. But I will surely miss being the center point of the team!

Being the single girl in the team, being the youngest - actually the kid of the team, being the chatter box of the team - I was pretty pampered. Its all going to change from now on. I am not anymore the one to be cared for separately - I am going to be just one among many from now..

In a way, its good - I will work harder to stand on my own... in a way.. its not good.... I am not anymore pampered...

X - keeping my fingers crossed for only better things to happen! Am off on my annual pilgrimage trip from tonight till third of Feb. Feb 9 - will be my first day at the new work place... and then starts another phase of life for me!

Been more than half hour since I got back home.. and am still feeling empty ... Normal, right?

One piece of advice for all you 'jobbers' & job-seekers - be prepared to face LOADS of work when you give your resignation to your boss! He suddenly realizes that there is this whole lot of work which only you can do and will do all possible stuff to squeeze as much work out of you as possible.

And another piece of advice - be like me ;)! I picked up bakra juniors who would never say no to me and I am loading all this work on them! :D

I was checking my blog posts and looks like I have completed more than a 100 of them! Some of them are ones that I copied from my old page, but even then - they are my own creations!

When I started blogging in 2006, I wasn't even sure if any of my posts would have any comments! Seeing the first few comments pour in made me feel so happy :)) And then it became an addiction! but never thought I would last 3 years and all! This online identity celebrates 3 years at the end of February.

The best thing has been - it has been a friend of sorts. Whatever the emotions - this place was always there to write all stuff! Easily one of the best decisions I made :)

And how much ever I could say about the friends I have made - would never suffice to do complete justice to them! :) Some of my closest friends now are people that I met online. For someone who was scared about giving out any details at all to anyone online - to actually discussing plans about life with them - I would say thank you to blogging for that! And in a way, it has also taught me to differentiate between people who can be trusted and who cannot be...!

I know I have said this before.. but I would never tire of saying this again!

ok.. enough monkeying around now. Did a lot of that in the last few posts!

On a happy note - 2009 has started off on a really great note for me :) I have a new job with a BIG company with a very good designation and am really really happy about it :)

For most of 2008, I was in bad spirits, often wondering where I was heading to - not even knowing if I was heading anywhere at all! But God has been kind - and decided things should change for me! And for that - Thank You, God! :)

Here's wishing the whole year goes the same great way for me and for everyone else too!

On a different note, a little sad one at that - its very painful to see how people play with relationships. People you trust, people you really take into confidence... people you actually expect support from - its strange how they can just blow the whole trust thing into pieces! I always had this silly thought that the world around me was the ideal place to live in - great people who would always be the epitome of goodness. Am just realizing how wrong I have been all this time.

I would have so liked to share my happiness with so many people - but the way they are behaving and the way they are going around playing games at the back - I am not even interested in sharing my news with them! Like someone was telling - what if the green monster visits them??!!

And its just in the recent times that I have started meeting the right friends too :) Online, offline, neighbours, office - its starting to look like never before! Touchwood - but I really hope this stays. I realize now what a great difference the right kind of friends can make to your life. The kind of lift they can give you when you are really down! And when I told a few of my friends about my new job - actually they felt happier than I was about it. And listening to that made me so happy - that here are the people who are actually feeling happy for me.. instead of trying to find something to crib about - like some relatives usually do :P

And there is the marriage coming up - my sister's! It looks like 4 months away but time flies away before you can ever realize! Mom's already done some shopping in Bangalore and now am waiting for to come home so I can see what all she's bought for me :D There's so much work to be done still - wedding cards, more clothes, more things - more of so many other things! And I really hope dad gets transferred back to Hyderabad from Bangalore! Its difficult having to stay in two different places! It would also ease things for mom, if dad can be here with us!

Lets see how things shape up :)

And for your Rauf Uncle.... with people like you around... I should not have any trouble staying focused :) Thanks!! :)

Got myself a temp tattoo yesterday on my arm! The ones that stay only for a week or so.

Mom's not in town and won't be back for another week... so decided its the best time to act crazy :))

Its my zodiac sign - the cancer! There was this boy in our group who had this typical teenage craze about weird & spooky things. He searched all the tattoo design books available with the tattoo guy and got himself a skull on his chest! And now his Orkut album has been promptly updated with the same! And to add, mine has been upated too :))

It was a fun weekend. Lots of shopping on Saturday and a bye-bye to mom on her way to Bangalore. Sunday started real late what with me & sister sleeping soundly with no one to disturb us :D. A late brunch, and then Shall We Dance on Zee Movies and then the Eat Street in the evening with neighbour kids from the apartments. And just out of craze, all of us went to this tattoo guy, bugged him like hell and finally walked away showing off our tattoos :)) We actually wanted the teenage guy to get a red colored lips-shaped tattoo on his neck - but he thought it may get too embarrassing at home & college! :D

Lots of happy things happening and am really looking forward to a better & happier 2009. 2008 was not terrible or anything, but wasn't completely great either. Two times, I fell badly sick and had to take off with Loss of Pay and two weeks off! Imagine my situation when I got back to work after that! :-| And then not so happy things with/from people around either! The brightest spots were prolly my sister's engagement and the few vacations I had. And some of the finer moments that you come across in every day life. And for those finer moments, I can only thank some of those people am proud to call my friends! Am sure a couple of them reading this know it and for you - THANK YOU! :) And for others that are not reading, THANK YOU to you too!

The last 2 months threw up some situations that made me decide on a couple of things and now, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the best to happen - what ever is the best for me, that is :)

Time flies so!

And I last wrote here last year! Long time na? :D

If not personally, on a general note, its been a not-so-good start for the year, what with the fire in the Bangkok club and the blasts in Asom.

Hoping thats the start & end of it for this year. Please God - no more like that! Why can't people take resolutions not to hurt people?

Talking about resolutions, though I know I may not be able to keep up totally, I would still like to work on my temper & mood swings. I should become more cool-tempered and not keep losing my head for petty things. Its not actually a New Year's resolution since I've been working on it for some time now... but I would like for it to be in a better position this year! And I can see I'm succeeding slowly :)

New Year's eve was great fun. We have a party kind of thing every year in our apartments. But this time, it turned out to be soooo much fun! Probably because we were involved very actively too. We danced - all naach-gaana, jhatka-matka, everything! And after the party got over, all of us in the same age group got together, put the music on loud and danced away till 3, with a couple of aunties staying back - to enjoy with us and also to keep an eye on us ;)! And finally, we decided that before any of the residents came & said anything, we had better close the party and so off all of us went to our homes & slept soundly till 11.

There was a lunch in the afternoon with some family friends - right after my brunch :D So new year's started off with lots of food for me :)) Am not sure about losing/maintaining my weight anymore :D

I told a friend that I am way too fickle minded to stick to resolutions - and he says "Resolutions are made to break. But its more about what u want to achieve which is unachievable for u. In other words what is unachievable for u?”

I saw the Telugu version of Vaaranam Aayiram on Saturday. Its named Surya S/O Krishnan here.

When I told a couple of my friends about it, they started laughing at me! Sample a couple of things I heard:

"Che! What name is that! I wouldn't even go into the street that's playing this movie"

"You booked tickets for THAT movie??? You are booked! You are lost!!"

"That movie? Its so boring! whatever on made you want to see THAT movie of all??"

It got me a little scared - I spent 500/- after all buying tickets for everyone!!

But after having seen the movie, I am very happy I saw the movie! And personally, I think the money has been very well spent.

Its such a well made movie - it touches all chords that it had to!

Surya is clearly the hero of the movie - whether he's playing the role of the father or of the son. And what I liked the most was how the director brought out the most important aspects - [1] his admiration & hero-worship of his father [2] his deep sense of attachment to his mother [3] the importance he attaches to the two leading ladies in his life that arrive at two different points in his life & individually make a difference in his life.

All people had to tell me was how much senti the movie was - and having seen it, I think its very important that you actually try to understand his side of story, rather than just see it as an audience. I would say that makes a huge difference.

I always thought Sameera Reddy was a good actress - just that she needed a good break.. and she proved that she can act & how! And she looked so very pretty!! Didn't think too much about Divya before the movie - but realized she is not just a pretty face either! :) Simran - as always a great actress! She was very very good!

And Surya - like I mentioned - is clearly the hero. You should see the movie to understand why I keep stressing on why he is clearly the star here. The dressing or the make-up or more importantly the acting - everything is out of the world. Needless to say - as the movie progresses, he becomes more & more good looking and by the time the movie has ended - He ends up having this effect on girls thats pretty difficult to shake off! :)) One lucky lady Jyothika is!

Music is good too - three of them are especially good - the ones you would keep humming for a long time after you come out of the movie. Pity that Gautham & Harris are breaking up their partnership. They had some good innings together!

Gautham has once again proved that he's not your regular kind of director! He may not be Mani Rathnam or anything of that sort, but given good stories, chances & such great supporting actors - I don't see why he cannot be on his way to becoming another one!

I am very very impressed by the movie. And incase you haven't seen the movie as yet, I would really suggest that you watch the movie & form your own opinion rather than go by what people are saying. This is one of those movies where everybody having the same impression is not possible - its one of those movies that you will need to identify yourself with to actually enjoy the movie :)

Sunday evenings & Monday mornings are the worst times in a week! Something inside me starts crying like a child - inspite of the fact that I go to work only on Monday evenings!

Dad went back home to Bangalore! The house is going to become empty again!

Bawwwlll :'((

There a few guests - two of them leaving today & two more leaving tomorrow. So by tomorrow, the house is going to come back to its own shape again! After all the hullabaloo with so many people around!

My mom says, when I was a kid, if any guests were getting ready to leave, I would start bawling & begging them not to leave :D People who have known me since I was born and have seen me do all that - pinch my cheeks now and say - it used to be so cute when you cried like that, asking us not to go.

Hmm :D

I don't cry for anybody now, but even after 2 years of him staying away, I still get all weepy & emotional & senti when dad leaves for his place. So usually, I don't even look at him when he's leaving because am very scared I won't be able to control my tears from rolling down! Dad understands that well and doesn't usually ask me too many questions before leaving. He simply says bye & leaves.

It happens with both of them - even if my mom has to go somewhere and be away for a few days, I get all weepy inside. I used to cry openly as a kid, but when you grow up and are considered an adult for the world - crying for things like this is looked upon as silliness and branded as weak! And the only thing you can do is cry inside.

Sigh!

I wish I could grow - actually & not just for the world!

I wish I could get rid of the lump in my throat as I write this!

I wish I didn't have this over-active water tap somewhere behind my eyes!

I wish I was not this emotional!

I wish I was stronger!

The function went really well! And I mean REALLY well!! :)

My sister made a really pretty picture! :)

Everybody had the same thing to say - it was a very happy affair with everybody smiling & laughing - and that made it all the more memorable! :) There was not one person who was keeping quiet!

And I was the object of all the jokes! Which was quite unexpected - since I thought its usally the boy & girl in question who are the object of all jokes about their future!

Me being the next in line - My uncles & cousins found me to be the right person to crack their jokes on! Although it did get a little embarrassing sometimes with their jokes touching sensitive issues too :)) - it was good fun!

The date's set for April 27 now! Five more months and the countdown has started already, what with dad already going around to check the marriage halls from today itself!

So there - another date to look forward to & more work coming on!! :)

Thanks to the cleaning going on at home, I came across some old diaries that were scattered here & there. One of them was a book in which I wrote my 'poetry'.

Yes! Poetry! Something I wrote with my own imagination :D I wrote something on the same lines when I was in 10th Std, but its too childish to put up here.

Not that this is very great - this is funny too, but I still like it somehow. Its, after all, my work :D

And I grandly titled it - MAN OF MY DREAMS - PART 2. I had written the 1st part in my 10th Std, you see.

Anyways, here goes it. And yes - no snickering at it - ok? These are some honest & pure feelings of a college-going teenaged girl :P

Actually, a couple of things that I added at the bottom of the page also - I can see in Google Chrome but not in IE! And its making me mad! :-|

Its my sister's engagement on the coming Sunday, but working at home like a servant maid is me :)) There's so much cleaning to do at home! And considering the usual state of affairs that I manage at home, its only a lot more work now :P

If just an engagement means so much work - how will it be like when its the marriage? :-o

I oiled my hair yesterday night, so I could wash it off today morning! But something else came up and I couldn't wash - rather, I was told NOT to wash. And am work right now with very well oiled, tightly plaited hair - looking like an 'appalamma' :-| And I soooo hate it :(

I have been crazy about sandwiches, of late!

There's a shop near my office that makes divine sandwiches! And the varieties he has - WOW!

The regular one is for Rs. 10/- and has a thin layer of butter, then mint chutney, then tomatoes, then cucumber and then another slice of bread. And on the top, he garnishes it with very thin & very tasty sev and then finely sliced raw onions.

Yummmm!!!!

He has other items too - pav bhaji, alu toast and all that. but his best item is tawa toast! Its almost like a mini pizza and costs 30 rs but way better value for money than a pizza!

What he does though is pretty heartbreaking for someone on a diet :D He first fries two slices of bread in butter, and when done, he puts a layer of the veggies on each slice of the bread and after that, he puts a slice of cheese between the two slices. So by the time we eat it at work, the cheese starts to melt and is just right for eating! and as in the normal sandwich, he again garnishes it with lots of sev and onions. And the taste is just divine!!

Writing this makes me want to eat it now! :-|

I know it may be the umpteenth review you are reading for Fashion and its coming pretty late too :P

But its ok - I will still write it :))

[1] It was certainly a good movie. Worth seeing ATLEAST once.

[2] PC put up a pretty good eprformance. She was really mean when she had to be - and the change in her attitude - she really put it through well. I liked it!

[3] Kangana - you rock lady! You put life into your characters and make them seem so real, so understandable and so reachable too! I can safely call you one of the most under-rated actresses.

[4] Kitu Gidwani's role was a pretty good one too - she was everything a thorough professional in her field would be. Very well-etched character - she had. And what I really liked about her character was her empathy for others - but never does she actually come down to showing sympathy. She drew the line there very well.

[5] Mughda Godse had a sweet character. I used to hate her as a model - but after the movie, I like her better now! Thanks to her character :D

[6] And then the assortment - Arjun Bajwa, Arbaaz Khan, Suchitra Pillai, Sameer Soni, the guy who played the gay Rohit - EVERYBODY had their place well made in the script. And everybody delivered.

[7] Their in-film advertising was very very good! You can see most of the big brands in the movie - and you can read more about it here.

You may end up thinking - its a little unreal or that things happen too fast, but then, its a movie and the director had to fit in his basic idea in the limited time! And considering that, I think Madhur has done a wonderful job for sure.

If you are looking for fun or just some enjoyable time out with friends, this may not be the movie for you, but if you are just looking to spend some time in the movie hall for a good movie, this is certainly a must-checkout. Its a pretty serious one and scenes for you to actually laugh at or smile about are - well - not countable, you won't even remember them!

There's one scene where PC just spends the night drinking and even tries snorting coke for the first time and in the end, winds up in bed with a black guy - It was funny in one way, when she gets up and looks around :))

You can see the movie, people! Its certainly a good one. Don't go by reviews that gave it just 2.5 or 2 stars. It deserves more for sure.

P.S. I haven't really seen any of his other movies, so don't have a ground to compare Madhur's work, but I can still say this movie is good.

I have so many memories of the time this picture was taken - both of us very very angry when we were photographed. I was around 4 1/2 years old and used to have really short hair - like all kids do. My dad, who was a bank officer, had just been transferred and like all bank officers are treated in small towns, my dad was a very respected & well-loved person in Ongole, then. Some neighbours wanted to decorate our hair with all those flowers and take pictures and set about doing it - inspite of the fact that I had hair that was just a few inches long. They somehow managed it and finally when I got ready - I found my 'poo-jadai' shorter than my sister and thats it - I started a big scene & started crying :D And my sister - her 'netthi-chutti' was given to me and she made a big scene about it and she started crying over it. So finally - this is how the picture came out :))

Ha-ha! This picture is always a subject for discussion at home - that my sister is trying to scare me off and I am wondering what she was trying to do :D

This was taken on my first birthday. My mom says that I was very happy seeing all the food infront of me and out of the happiness, I started playing the tabla on my newly tonsured head :))

I just read something this morning:

I agree. In a way, that's my problem right now!

So God, I make the following promises now:

[1] I will STOP sulking for every little thing from now on.

[2] I will consciously start to look at the brighter side of things, until I get back to my old self of looking at the nicer things naturally!

[3] I will start smiling more.

[4] I will stop worrying about unnecessary things & unnecessary people - which/who happen to be equal to zero in my life.

[5] I will still continue to expect less from others, but I am not going to let that stop me from giving to others.

[6] I will enjoy & cherish what's on hand now, rather than brood about what is not there or what's not happening. But that doesn't mean I am going to stop trying to better things & get what I want!

[7] And above all, I WILL STOP CRIBBING ABOUT EVERY DAMN THING in life! I have been cribbing too much about things in the last 2-3 months, I know!

Always learn to keep people at a bay right from the beginning - especially if they happen to be the kinds who try to take friendliness for granted & over-act

If anybody is trying to act smart & trying to having fun at your expense, thinking you are friendly & won't bother too much - don't let it prolong too much! Show them their place right in the first few instances!

Lesson # 5

This is very useful. If you are known to be cheerful & talkative most of the time, when you are really p***** off, shut up for a day, give curt answers, act busy and basically let the people around know you are REALLY p***** off with them - they will come to their senses immediately!

Imagination Stories!

Since Naut Baba wrote about his imagination stories, I thought I would write someting as well about it - not mine, but another friend's. I had originally posted about this on my O3 blog - but am sure nobody over here has read it - so its ok :D

There was this classmate P in 8th std, with a HIGH sense of self-esteem - she was sure she was no less than a beauty queen [reality was contrary to that] and behaved pretty high-strung!

It was after the 7th std annual holidays and everybody were back in school in full josh. Everybody were excitedly discussing as to who did what and who went where.

Suddenly we noticed that this girl, P was unusually quiet. So I ventured to ask her-"What P, what did u do and where did u go?" .She started off quite animatedly with how she had been to Malaysia . One of her aunts supposedly stays there and that lady supposedly LOVES [she stressed on loves - recreating that effect here] this girl a lot. Whenever she comes down to India, she usually showers her with a lot of goodies and gifts. And for the holidays - P had been to Malaysia to visit the shopping fair!

It seems, when her aunt had come to India the last time, she had gifted her a big watch which was very beautiful, but quite loose for her hand. Now this girl was really very chubby - so it was a little strange to hear a watch being loose for her. She actually showed the dial of her watch as someting really big--she cupped her palms like a lotus to form some big, odd circle and told us that it was that Big!! Now this girl wore this watch to the fair. And the fair was very crowded. She enjoyed a lot and she played on all the fun things that were there and all that. And finally when they all decided that they should go home, she suddenly noticed that her watch was not there. After all, it had been loose on her hand, rite??

Tsk Tsk Tsk!!! And so, she started crying. And they went around the whole fair searching for her watch, but in vain. And so, they finally gave up on the big beautiful watch. Her aunt pacified her telling that it was ok. And in her own words---her aunt was very "open-hearted" :))

After the story, she excused herself and off she went to the canteen for some more samosas and chips :D

If this story was one high, after a few days, she narrated another one that touched another high. It went like this.

On one her supposed trips to Singapore, her whole family and relatives decided to join her. There were sooooooooooooooooo many people, according to her, that they decided to book an ENTIRE plane just for themselves!! :-| Now this was heights!!!

Once they were settled in the plane, they decided that they should have some fun. So they started playing Antakshari, it seems. In the plane!!! And then , another bouncer here. They opened all their windows in the plane, because it was getting hot. The reason she gave--they were nearer to the sun now, than on the ground level!!! And now there was this little 2 year old kid who was sitting beside the window watching out at the clouds . And suddenly, the girl slipped out of the window!! But these people were busy with their antakshari and didn't notice.

After the antakshari was over, they suddenly noticed that she was not there. And when they looked out of the window, they saw the girl falling down.[Was the plane standing still all that time?] And so, they ran to the cockpit and told the pilot what had happened. And the Pilot--now listen to this--took a u-turn and dived down after the kid!!! And our heroine P stood near the door and caught the kid just before she hit the ground. That was how she saved the girl's life.

At the end of this story, all of us listening to it din't know whether we should laugh at it for her stupidness or cry for her belief that we would lap up her story!! And to think - madam had not been out of Tamil Nadu also, at the time when she told us these stories!

And to add another story to this is Vrij's imagination - about me having an affair with my married boss! I would say its more funnier than the one I told above :))

So guys - QUIT thinking am in an affair - am an innocent girl :D Please don't damage my reputation and close possible options also for me :D :D :D :D

Of late, I have become less cheerful & more cynical [I used to be 'hyper-cheerful' previously :D]

I argue more [my argument ability has improved, though :D]

I lose my temper more often

I sulk more too - and these days, I can go for even more than a day without talking to anyone, except when talked to :-o :-o

I have started using B****** for stupid guys on the road or when someone keeps making prank calls! :-| I used to be so against using all that stuff!

I am more into a 'don't care anymore' attitude these days - I hardly cry :-o

And I have a nagging feeling somewhere that tells me I am wasting my life - utterly wasting my life!

Does all this mean I am growing up? Or maybe growing older?

Since I started talking about a guy coming for me on Black Steed in the comments on the prev post, I thought I may as well write a post on it :D

That cinematic dream has always been there - it would be a windy day, my hair's all flying around in a very cinematic way and I am giving all those beautiful smiles - and suddenly, I turn my head in random direction, in a proper slow motion and THERE! I see the hero looking intently at me!! And Love blooms!

Ta-dang!!

And we live happily forever !! :))

I blame it on the Mills & Boons :D

And when I saw Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much, I was verrrryy impressed by that song, esp the last part. :D

And then, I made a few changes to my dream - I decided I will go the old fashioned way and this time - my hero's going to come for me riding on a Black Steed!! He need not wear armour and all - but dashing he's got to be :D

And then I grew up and went about adding a couple of other items to it -

[a] Mr. Hero must belong to either of the Earth or Water Signs [Pref should be a taurean or a scorpion :D. Others can be considered :D]

[b] Mr. Hero should be a vegetarian. If he really likes non-vegetarian, he may go out & eat whatever crap he wants to, but should not force me about it

[c] Mr. Hero should be a non-smoker

[d] Mr. Hero should be a non-drinker. Social drinking, to a level, is just about acceptable :P

[e] Mr. Hero should tell me 'I Love You, darling' wholeheartedly as many times as possible in a day :P :))))

[f] Mr. Hero should take me out every weekend and should take me out on shopping sprees every now & then :D :D

These are things - additional to the usual 'should understand me, should be kind, should be loving, should respect my parents' dialogues :D

There maybe a couple of things that can be added as it goes along, but for now, lets stop the post here :D

And yea, incase you guys have any ideas, please pass them on - I would like to consider more options too :D

I was wanting to tell them that I wanted the smallest piece

Something went wrong then - I had the thought process happening in Telugu in my mind and I was speaking in English and ended up telling them.... 'I want the chinnest piece from the lot'.

I am the laughter stock at work now - people around me are telling the others - 'hey.. she is the chinnest girl, right?' & guffawing at their own jokes, as am writing this.

Working for a US client has many many disadvantages - the main being you are an Indian and India has umpteen number of holidays - and you don't get to enjoy most of them :(

Sometimes, its soooo bad - we come to the office, switch on the lights ourselves and get to work :-| Everybody else has an off - they follow the Indian calender.

Understand my plight, when we have to work on Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi and Republic Day too :(

I saw Phoonk.

And for some of the scenes - I actually ended up screaming and had all the people infront, behind & beside laughing at me :D

Connections - Part 1

Took this up from Swat! I thought it was a pretty good one to scribble out :)

Though it would be nice to think about all those friends that have made a difference in my life and how I met them...

Hima Bindu - She was my school mate in Madras. Was in a different section and did not even know her until we happened to attend the same extra classes for Mathematics. But becoming friends at the class was the best thing that happened to us :)

Ragavender - We had one of the stooopidest of beginnings if I had to tell how we became friends. But whatever it was, it all turned for the good and now, both of us are friends for life! But even after all this years, thinking of how we became such good friends is something that still looks stupid to me :D

Ratna - She is one hell of a girl - was my classmate in degree. Before I met her, I used to think Ratna was a name that's pretty old & ancient and boring! But who knew she would be the one to change my perception of it! After I met her, I actually ended up thinking that the name Ratna is the most beautiful! And wondered how her parents could name her so aptly! She is one of those very few persons who actually live upto their names. Ratna, let me say this - you are what your name says - you are a gem in the true sense - looks-wise & heart-wise!

Anupama - Another great friend I made in degree. I hate her for her time-sense or the lack of it and I hate her that she cancels all outing programs in the last minute - but then, she is also one of those persons that you just can't keep your mouth shut with. I end up spilling ALL my secrets to her, whenever we meet up :D

Vanaja - Degree friend again! A mad-cap cancerian like me - I used to hate her initially with all my heart. Didn't realise when the equations changed for us, but by the time we came out of degree, we had a million fights, a billion jokes and a trillion heart-to-heart talks behind us that sealed our friendship. She is married & has a new-born kid right now. And I haven't had the chance to meet her as yet. She is very angry at me for that [understandably so]. One of these days, am going to pull Anupama out of her slumber & drag her along with me to see the baby :)

Srinath - A family friend turned a big bro. Met him at a religious gathering & quickly turned one of family. I don't have a big brother of my own and he turned out to be the best I could ask for :) How much he pampers me, how many things he does for me and how many places he has taken me around to - I could never count on my fingers :)

Venkat - Ditto as above. And to add to the list - he did something that no one would have dared to do. He spent 2 days under the supervision of the Police guys, since he was with us when we were involved in an accident in Maharashtra. He told us to come back to Hyderabad and that he would take care of himself - since our grandparents were with us and they were pretty sick. Who would volunteer to spend 2 nights with Police of a different state, where you don't even know the language properly?? God's grace... he was treated with respect. But the scene that took place that day is something that still gives me the scares. Venkat anna..... you will be an integral part of our lives always!

That's the list of people who made an impression in my life.. its like what they say.... a friendship/relationship is a wet-cement paving. Some people come walking on it at the right time - and they always manage to leave their foot-impressions on it. I guess they have managed to do that.

I liked the idea for this post a little too much! :D Maybe I will do another post just to detail the friends I met on-line and later on became a part of my life! :)

iPhone Disappointments :(

Arey.. I was sooooo waiting for the iPhone!

Somebody told me it was going to come for around $200.00 for 8GB and $300.00 for 12GB, which sounded totally awesome to me! I had been waiting to buy a new phone anyways, and thought this sounded like a good enough option!

But then, I read this. And all my expectations went phussss!

iPhone doesn't seem to have a lot of things going for it, the major factor being the price! How did anyone think the general class of people would shell out Rs. 31, 000 or Rs. 36, 000 just like that! And considering the features aren't that good either... I think its ridiculous!

Here's what I found out:
1--->2 MP camera, with no flash [for 31k/-???]
2--->No video recording option
3--->No expandable memory .. you get only a 8GB model or a 16GB model [Not that I would be using more than 8GB]
4--->No zoom
5--->No message forwarding! :-o That's heights! I read somewhere, you will need to write down your message and then type it out separately if you need someone else to see that message
6--->That's not enough? Listen to this! Group messaging not allowed. You will have to send it person by person... separately!
7--->The worst is this - you cannot just buy an iPhone battery over the counter & replace the exhausted one. You will HAVE to send it to the Apple Store to get it changed, because only they are equipped to do it! Imagine 3-4 days without a cell phone for someone whose business is completely dependent on it!

My take? Light lelo. Its not worth its money or maybe.. am missing some points. But if I had to pay so much money, I would any day prefer the Nokia N96. Makes for a better phone anyday!

And getting back to me, I have a Samsung E 490 right now... the features are very good for someone who just needs a phone handy and listen to some music once in a while & looks good too, but the performance is horrible. Keeps getting switched off all by itself and even when its apparently switched on, people calling me get a message that says the phone is switched off! Don't know how many calls I may have missed due to that :( And it doesn't support too many formats for music & videos.

So its back to square one :( Need to browse through more models so I can get a good one worth the money I put in.

If I said my budget was around 10k-12k.... what would you suggest?

Spam Again!

I was clearing out my spam folder today and thought of this funny thing that happened a couple of months back.

My uncle was home and he was checking his e-mail. He had just started to use it and was still not completely at ease with understanding what spam was.

After he was done with his work, he was sitting beside me while I started checking my e-mail. I was clearing my spam mails and had those trademark explicit mails about how your 'performance' in the bedroom can be improved :P I was cursing about how these spam mails go to everyone, regardless of the gender :D

And then my uncle.. very slowly bent towards me and talked in low tones.. Sindhu.. even I keep getting these e-mails... but I never ordered for anything like that.. and they keep telling 'further to your request'. How do I tell them I didn't ask for it?

I burst out laughing.. and told him..it was junk mail and everyone with an e-mail id gets it... so don't worry about it.

You should have seen him at that time :)))) He heaved a sigh of relief and said.. Really? Phew! I was so scared that if your aunt ever got to see those e-mails, she would misunderstand me so badly!!
